Wikipedia - Barry Town United FC

Barry Town United is een voetbalploeg uit Wales die in het laatste decennium van de twintigste eeuw het voetbal in de League of Wales domineerde. Na een financiële teloorgang degradeerde de ploeg echter in 2003/2004 en zakt de ploeg steeds verder weg.

Barry Town United Football Club, ook bekend als de Linnets, is een Welshe professionele voetbalclub uit Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. De club werd opgericht in 1897 en speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden in Jenner Park. Barry Town speelde in de Welsh Premier League, de hoogste divisie van Welsh voetbal, tot het in 2019 degradeerde naar de Cymru South.

Barry Town heeft een rijke geschiedenis en heeft vele successen behaald, waaronder het winnen van de Welsh Cup tien keer, de laatste keer in 2003. De club heeft ook deelgenomen aan Europese competities, waaronder de UEFA Champions League en de UEFA Europa League.

In de afgelopen jaren heeft Barry Town financiële problemen ondervonden, wat heeft geleid tot degradatie uit de Welsh Premier League. De club is echter vastbesloten om terug te keren naar de hoogste divisie en werkt aan het herbouwen van de ploeg en het versterken van de financiële positie.

Barry Town wordt geleid door manager Gavin Chesterfield en de aanvoerder is Chris Hugh. De club heeft een trouwe aanhang die bekend staat als de 'Barry Army' en staat bekend om zijn passievolle steun.
