FSC Mariupol (Ukrainian: Футбольний спортивний клуб «Маріуполь») is a Ukrainian professional football club based in the city of Mariupol. The team currently plays in the Ukrainian First League.
The club currently plays its home games near Kyiv in Demydiv (Dinaz Stadium, 2022–23) and Boryspil (Kolos Stadium, 2023–24), due to the destruction and occupation of Mariupol by Russia.
History
The team was founded in 2007 as Lider. In 2017 the club changed its name to Yarud. It debuted in the Ukrainian Second League in the 2020–21 season, adopting its current name—FSC Mariupol—at the start of the next season as another FC Mariupol was forced to withdraw from competition due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
De Oekraïense voetbalclub "Yarud Mariupol" werd opgericht in 1946 in de stad Mariupol. De club begon in de lagere divisies van het Sovjet-kampioenschap te spelen en bereikte pas in 1967 de Eerste Klasse. In de Sovjetperiode speelde Yarud Mariupol drie seizoenen op het hoogste niveau, met als beste resultaat een 9e plaats in 1969.
Na de Onafhankelijkheid van Oekraïne bleef Yarud Mariupol een vaste waarde in de Oekraïense hoogste klasse, maar de club kon nooit een prijs winnen. De beste prestatie was een 4e plaats in 2001. In 2004 fuseerde Yarud Mariupol met Illichivets Mariupol, waarna de club onder de naam Illichivets verder ging.
Het stadion van Yarud Mariupol was het Illichivets Stadion, dat in 1956 werd gebouwd en een capaciteit had van 12.680 toeschouwers. Het stadion werd in 2014 verwoest tijdens de Slag om Mariupol.
