Wikipedia - San Sebastian Stags

The San Sebastian Golden Stags (also known as SSC-R Stags) are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) basketball team of the San Sebastian College – Recoletos. Their 5 consecutive NCAA seniors basketball championships was the longest streak in the NCAA.

The other senior varsity teams may also be referred to as the Stags. The juniors team are the San Sebastian Staglets, while the women's team are the San Sebastian Lady Stags.

Het SSC-R Stags is een Filipijns basketbalteam uit Bacolod City in de Filipijnen. Het team speelt in de University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). De Stags staan bekend om hun sterke verdediging en hun vastberadenheid op het veld.

Het team werd opgericht in 1934 en is een van de meest succesvolle teams in de UAAP. De Stags hebben 10 kampioenschappen gewonnen, het meest recente in 2013. Het team staat ook bekend om het opleiden van enkele van de beste basketbalspelers van de Filipijnen, waaronder Benjie Paras, Alvin Patrimonio en Marcio Lassiter.

De Stags worden gecoacht door Charles Tiu. Tiu is een voormalig lid van het Filipijnse nationale basketbalteam en een van de meest gerespecteerde coaches in de UAAP. Onder leiding van Tiu hebben de Stags een van de sterkste teams in de UAAP en zijn ze een van de kanshebbers op het kampioenschap.
