The Kazakhstan Basketball Championship (Russian: Чемпионата Казахстана по баскетболу) is the highest professional basketball league in Kazakhstan, organised by the National Basketball Federation Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is a member of FIBA Asia, as the country lies partly in Asia, and Kazakhstan Championship sides have played in the competitions such as the FIBA Asia Champions Cup and the West Asia Super League. However, the country also partly lies in Europe, and the league's teams have participated in FIBA Europe competitions such as the FIBA EuroChallenge and the FIBA Europe Cup. The league's clubs therefore are also eligible, and often compete, in the Eastern European regional leagues such as the Baltic League and the VTB United League.
Kasachstan - National League
De National League is de hoogste professionele basketbalcompetitie in Kazachstan. De competitie werd opgericht in 1992 en wordt georganiseerd door de Kazachstaanse Basketbalfederatie. De competitie bestaat uit 10 teams die twee keer tegen elkaar spelen in een reguliere competitie. De vier beste teams plaatsen zich voor de play-offs, die worden gespeeld in een best-of-five formaat. De winnaar van de play-offs wordt gekroond tot kampioen van Kazachstan.
De National League is een competitie met een hoog niveau. De teams bestaan uit een mix van binnenlandse en buitenlandse spelers. De competitie wordt gedomineerd door Astana Tigers, die de laatste vijf kampioenschappen heeft gewonnen. Andere succesvolle teams zijn BC Almaty en BC Irtysh Pavlodar.
De National League is een belangrijke bron van talent voor de Kazachstaanse nationale ploeg. Veel van de spelers die voor Kazachstan hebben gespeeld, zijn begonnen in de National League. De competitie is ook een populaire attractie voor basketbalfans in Kazachstan.
