The ProB is the third-tier level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 24 teams, separated into a Northern and a Southern Division. Officially, the ProB is part of the 2. Basketball Bundesliga, which consists of the two hierarchical leagues ProA and ProB. Before the 2007–08 season, the 2. Basketball Bundesliga was a basketball league with the same name, which consisted of two geographical divisions. At the end of the league stage, the winning team of the playoffs in each division, qualify for the ProA, and the teams positioned in 9th place and lower, fight in the play-downs, for the whereabouts in the league. The last two placed teams of both divisions are relegated to the lower level fourth-tier league (1.Regionalliga).
De ProB Nord is een van de twee regionale divisies van de ProB, de derde basketbalcompetitie in Duitsland. De competitie bestaat uit 16 teams die uit het noorden van Duitsland komen. De kampioen van de ProB Nord promoveert naar de ProA, de tweede basketbalcompetitie in Duitsland. De onderste twee teams degraderen naar de Regionalliga, de vierde basketbalcompetitie in Duitsland.
De ProB Nord werd opgericht in 2007 en is sindsdien een van de meest competitieve regionale divisies in Duitsland. De competitie is gedomineerd door teams uit de grote steden, zoals Hamburg, Hannover en Oldenburg. In de afgelopen jaren zijn er echter ook enkele kleinere teams, zoals BG Göttingen en SC Rasta Vechta, die in de ProB Nord hebben gespeeld.
De ProB Nord is een spannende competitie met veel talentvolle spelers. De wedstrijden worden vaak beslist in de laatste minuten en er zijn veel verrassende resultaten. Als je van basketbal houdt, dan is de ProB Nord zeker de moeite waard om te volgen.
