Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund (kortweg Borussia Dortmund of BVB) is een Duitse voetbalclub uit Dortmund, Noordrijn-Westfalen. De club heeft ook een handbal- en tafeltennisafdeling. De club speelt in het grootste stadion van de Bundesliga, het Signal Iduna Park. De clubkleuren zijn zwart-geel. De aartsrivaal van Dortmund is Schalke 04, uit het nabijgelegen Gelsenkirchen. Onderlinge wedstrijden staan bekend als de Kohlenpottderby. Tegenwoordig is Bayern München ook een rivaal van Dortmund. De wedstrijden tussen deze beide rivalen staan bekend als Der Klassiker. De club won acht landstitels en was in 1966 de eerste Duitse club die een Europese beker wist te winnen. In 1997 won de club ook de UEFA Champions League en de wereldbeker voor clubteams. Wanneer het aankomt op bezoekersaantallen per thuiswedstrijd, behoren ze consistent tot de top met het hoogste gemiddelde aantal toeschouwers .
Borussia Dortmund werd opgericht in 1909. De club speelde in de lagere divisies totdat ze in 1936 promoveerden naar de Oberliga West. Borussia Dortmund won hun eerste landstitel in 1956. In de jaren 1960 en 1970 won de club nog eens vier landstitels.
Borussia Dortmund beleefde zijn hoogtepunt in de jaren 1990. De club won twee landstitels in 1995 en 1996 en de UEFA Champions League in 1997. Borussia Dortmund verloor de finale van de UEFA Champions League in 2013 van Bayern München.
